Prix Videre for Recognition in Visual Arts

The Prix Videre Reconnaissance en arts visuels was awarded to BGL in recognition of their 25-year career, its important contribution to Québec’s cultural vitality, and the collective’s remarkable achievements on the international stage. BGL have impressed audiences around the world with monumental installations whose extravagance, humour, and playfulness continue to raise incisive questions about the social and political issues of our time. BGL is represented by Galerie 3.

Prix Videre for Emerging Visual Artists

Prix Videre for Recognition in Visual Arts

Self-taught artist Claudie Gagnon puts everyday objects to use to create powerful social satire in tableaux vivant paintings and installations that merge the visual and performing arts. She has also made her mark across the Quebec landscape thanks to her public sculpture works integrated in local architecture. The presentation of her work internationally has highlighted our home-grown talent well beyond our borders. Claudie Gagnon is represented by Galerie 3.

Paryse Martin gained attention on the Quebec arts scene as much for her art practice and public art projects as for her generosity as a university art teacher. Her vast body of work was developed in a sustained and uncompromising manner. As a multidisciplinary artist, she boldly combines the fabulous, the strange, the dramatic, and the humorous into her works. Throughout her entire career, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to future generations of artists, for whom she is a mentor.
