Conspirations à gogo (Extraits pour MANIF X), 2021, Text installation.

Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf collects diverse samples of objects and words from popular culture and vernacular practices. Using reclassification and alteration, he decants the potential narrative in these inconsequential and often kitsch objects, producing a visual and textual poetry of the banal and the anecdotal that often humorously reflects on collective Western myths and idiosyncrasies. A veritable embodiment of paranoid delirium fashioned from conspiracy theories, the nonsensical fragmented tale engulfs the space, offering a jumble of preconceptions, urban legends, and mysterious facts the artist has gathered online. In the manner of proclamatory treatises or fevered disquisitions, the statements are reduced to paradoxical equations that misrepresent causal relationships, highlighting their fallaciousness.
